Description

We’ve reworked our original flagship series, the Myakka, to be even better. The carbon construction is the same to maintain the history of durability of the series. However, that’s where the comparison ends. We’ve reduced the diameter of the blank, leading to a considerably lighter design. We’ve changed the reel seat to mirror our Siren, allowing for more blank access and thus greater sensitivity. For a further boost to sensitivity as well as ergonomics, the cork grips are slimmer and more friendly for a variety of hand sizes. The most immediately obvious change to the series is a departure from the American Tackle Microwave guides to Fuji Micro guides. However, we’ve mirrored the guide formula from our original Myakka series in order to ensure there is no drop in sensitivity through guide placement. The revamped Myakka series is an ideal all-purpose rod at a killer price.

    • 1-piece 24/30T Blended Japanese Toray construction

So I purchased as a BOGO and I am happy I did. The quality of this rod is fantastic. It is well balanced, looks killer, and has become my favorite rods in my arsenal.

    Myakka rods

I was hesitant about buying a rod without putting hands on first, but I took advantage of the BOGO sale and got two for one. I’m so glad I did! The MH is my worm rod and handled a 7.6 lb largemouth the first trip out extremely well. The H is my frog rod and I paired it with a Daiwa Tatula and it too is a great rod. They are a little stiffer than I expected, but overall a really good rod

Performance was good - Design flaw

Published by Jeff Gonzales on 14th Jun 2018

Used it for the first time this past weekend. Performance was good. Handled Redfish and trout very well. My only issue with the rod is the placement of the lure keeper. I don't like that is sites behind the reel where you instinctively to to grab your rod. Should have been placed above the reel. Other than that it is a great rod.

Strong enough for a whale, sensitive enough for a minnow.

Published by Kenneth Davis on 21st May 2018

I use this rod for soft plastics and jigs, being able to feel the bottom so well that its almost like looking at it. A bite on the bait seems amplified and will take some getting used to, meaning you can almost feel when a fish is near the bait. Excellent guides and weight make it a very dependable go to for any type of fishing. Mine is currently paired with a Typhoon 7-1-1. With 20lb test and casts like a dream. Over all I'd say a top of the line heavy cover rod that you can fish all day in any type of cover and not feel the normal fatigue of flipping or casting all day. Can't wait to get another!

    Excellent Striper Rods

Published by Bob Wilson on 15th May 2018

Had a chance to try out my new 7’ Heavy and Medium Heavy Myakka rods with Typhoon reels last week while fishing with Striper Express at Lake Texoma. Fished three days and limited out every day, rods and reels were a pleasure to use with zero issues. First time I ever used a Six Gill product was fishing with Striper Express last year, liked the rods and reels so ordered my own on th BOGO specials this winter. Striper Express utilizes Six Gill equipment exclusively on their boats so if you want to try some Six Gill rods and reels and have a blast catching stripers set up a trip with Striper Express.
