The New Myakka Rod Series: Lighter, Crisper and Better Than Ever

Some fishing rods earn a following because they look good on a rack. The Myakka earned its reputation by being strong, dependable and ready to work.

For the new Myakka Rod Series, we wanted to preserve that confidence while improving how the rod feels in your hand. The result is a redesigned lineup of casting and spinning rods with a lighter blank, a more accurate power profile and the responsive performance serious anglers expect.

This is still the Myakka anglers know—only more refined.

Why We Redesigned the Myakka

The original Myakka became one of Sixgill’s most trusted rod series because of its strength and versatility. Angler feedback also revealed an opportunity: some models felt heavier than their listed power. A Medium, for example, could fish more like a Medium Heavy.

We listened.

The new Myakka uses a redesigned fast-action taper and reduced blank diameter to create a lighter, crisper and more accurately rated rod. It retains the backbone that made the original successful while delivering better balance, responsiveness and all-day comfort.

Japanese Toray Carbon Construction

Every new Myakka rod is built around a one-piece Japanese Toray 30T carbon blank.

Reducing the blank diameter helped lower weight and improve responsiveness without sacrificing dependable strength. The refined construction transfers subtle bottom contact, lure movement and light bites while maintaining the power needed for confident hooksets and hard-fighting fish.

A Refined Fast-Action Taper

The redesigned fast-action taper gives the new Myakka a responsive tip with dependable power deeper in the blank.

That combination supports accurate casts, quick hooksets and better bait control across a wide range of techniques. More importantly, each model now provides a feel that more closely matches its listed power, making it easier to select the right rod for the way you fish.

Improved Comfort and Control

A rod can have excellent components and still fall short if it becomes uncomfortable after several hours. The new Myakka addresses that with slimmer cork grips designed to fit a wider range of hand sizes.

The casting models use a lightweight split reel seat, while the spinning rods feature an upgraded Fuji VSS reel seat. Both designs help keep unnecessary weight down and improve the connection between your hand and the blank.

Fuji Micro Guides

The new Myakka is equipped with Fuji Micro guides for smooth line management and dependable casting performance.

The guide layout maintains the sensitivity anglers appreciated in the original series while complementing the lighter, more refined blank. Whether you are making short, accurate casts around cover or reaching distant targets, the system helps keep line moving efficiently.

New Myakka Casting Rods

With ten models ranging from 6'6" to 7'6" and Medium Light through Heavy power, the Myakka Casting Series covers an extensive range of bass-fishing techniques.

Shorter models provide control and accurate placement around tight targets. Longer Medium and Medium Heavy options add casting distance and line control for open-water presentations. The 7'6" Heavy supplies additional leverage for heavier baits and demanding cover.

Whether you fish reaction baits, Texas rigs, jigs or power presentations, the casting lineup makes it possible to choose the length and power that fit your technique.

New Myakka Spinning Rods

The Myakka Spinning Series includes five models ranging from 6'9" to 7'4" and Medium Light through Medium Heavy power.

Medium Light models provide the responsive feel needed for finesse presentations and lighter line. The 7'2" Medium offers a versatile option for everyday spinning applications, while the Medium Heavy models provide additional backbone for larger presentations and stronger fish.

The upgraded Fuji VSS reel seat adds comfort and control while helping anglers remain connected to the blank throughout the retrieve.
