The carbon construction is the same to maintain the history of durability of the series. However, that’s where the comparison ends. We’ve reduced the diameter of the blank, leading to a considerably lighter design. We’ve changed the reel seat to mirror our Siren, allowing for more blank access and thus greater sensitivity. For a further boost to sensitivity as well as ergonomics, the cork grips are slimmer and more friendly for a variety of hand sizes. The most immediately obvious change to the series is a departure from the American Tackle Microwave guides to Fuji Micro guides. However, we’ve mirrored the guide formula from our original Myakka series in order to ensure there is no drop in sensitivity through guide placement. The revamped Myakka series is an ideal all-purpose rod at a killer price. I got the mayakka 7’ heavy fast tip, and the myakka 6’6” medium for jerk baits. I took the 7’ rod on its first trip the next day put my revo x on it with 20 pound florocarbon the thing casts to the moon love the micro guides… didn’t lose a single fish all day. I caught a 5.5 pound large mouth had to pull through grass and muck no problem. My favorite rod I own hands down. Thank you. But I decided to try out their high priced ceramic bearing bait caster and I am NOT A FAN at all. Light weight with a really slim grip which I like. Although the medium feels more stiff than I originally thought it would, I would recommend a medium light for the lighter lures. Which I plan on purchasing later this winter in this same series! 5 Excellent rod, sensitive, well worth the money.
