I only gave it 4 stars because nothing is perfect but I would give it 4.9 stars if it were an option. The 27" ul is one of my favorites it's really sensitive because of the length and I've caught small panfish to big panfish all the way to walleye on this rod and felt every bite, It also loads up all the way through the rod while fighting bigger fish not just at the tip it loads all the way to the handle basically. I have the 24" ul the 27" ul the 28" L and the 32" m and all of them have their qualities about them including the reel seats which I like. Excellent rods Sixgill!! 4 Finally, spICE rods! Posted by Tim R. spICE co-captain on 23rd Jan 2020 First off, SixGill did an amazing job for their first venture into hard water. I have the 24" UL, 27" L, and 28" M so I'll review in that order. 24" UL - amazing sensitivity, which is important because the tip is a little stiff. I added a spring bibber to mine to help the action a bit and to help with bites on the fall. I've caught Panfish and a pike on this one. Even with the rod u-shaped on the pike it barely broke a sweat, would have landed what looked like a PB through the clear ice if she hadn't snapped me at the hole. Four stars for the lack of colored tip and bounce. 27" L - no fish topside on this one yet. 28" M - I caught what is now my PB pike on this one. Fat little piggy too. I think I felt the strike and set the hook before the fish knew it was gonna hit my jig. A drag screaming fight ensued and man was it fun. Overall, the Fuji guides and solid reel seat are what makes it more expensive than a lot of combos out there along with the 30T carbon. . .and are also what make these rods worth every penny. Here's to hoping for a 2nd generation with some colored tips and/or spring bobbers.
