Overview Reviews Product Description Born and developed on the legendary salmon and steelhead rivers of the Pacific Northwest, the Skykomish rod series delivers exceptional performance and value. Each rod has been designed for a specific purpose, focusing on sensitivity without sacrificing control of your casts, line, or fish. While the moderate-fast action doesn't limit sensitivity, it does allow for an additional level of control of the fight with powerful sea-run fish. This second release of the Skykomish series sees a distinct improvement in durability, and has also expanded to allow for a variety of additional techniques for targeting both salmon and steelhead. Please Note: The section of exposed carbon in the middle of the joint is by design. This allows for repeated assembly/disassembly without the joint becoming loose over time. Once you have snugged the sections together, you will still see exposed carbon. Were this to be painted, it would not allow for as tight of a connection, and would diminish positive engagement over time. My one complaint about this rod is the handle. It is balanced at the hook holder and not the upper handle. This does create some fatigue during a day of fishing. The handle is cork and thin. It comes out of the plastic smelling of gasoline.the reel seat could use a second locking nut as it works itself loose. Reworking the handle and balancing this rod would put this in the top tier of rods to fish. Hlad to have it in my arsenal but with a little more work this rod could be phenomenal. 5 Weight and durability Posted by Nga Danh on 17th Sep 2021 Worked great for me! I have a rotator cuff tear and CTS the light weight of this rod allows me to slay fish longer. 5 Skykomish Rods Posted by Krag McKay on 22nd Sep 2020 Just received the two rods I ordered. Haven't used either yet but the quality seems excellent, very well balanced and for such long poles have very good backbone, even the ML action is not at all whippy. Can't wait to take them on my trip to AK salmon and dolly fishing next summer!!! Next Next
